BLIND MANS BUFF statue antique stipple engraving print
"Blind Man's Buff", a superb high quality antique stipple steel plate engraving on nice heavy paper. Reverse side blank. This fine stipple engraving has a popping 3D effect and is a fine statuary piece for framing.
"Blind Mans Buff was a parlor game, a game that could be played indoors on rainy days. It was popular at birthday parties and tea parties. This is a good game for four or more people. To play Blind Mans Buff, pick one person to be It. That person is blindfolded and stands in the middle of the room. The other players dart around It, who tries to tag them. They try to get as close as possible to It without being caught. When the player who is It catches another player, he tries to guess who it is by touching their face and hair. If he doesnt guess on the first try, other players can give hints. When he guesses their name, that person becomes the new It."
This is a very fine piece with crisp sharp lines and tones which are impossible to represent quality-wise with digital pictures. Some of my images came out shaded on one side. The paper is of uniform color, which will be the lighter whiter tone rather than the darker half.
Engraved by H. Balding after statue by Barzaghi. Sheet size approx. 12" x 9". Printed circa 1870, D Appleton, New York.
Due to age, some minor foxing and toning may be present, please view pictures. Image detail as well as full sheet are pictured.
This item was hand picked for its image quality, paper quality, and visual appeal.
