The school was founded in 1561 by members of the Merchant Taylors' Company. The site of the original school was a manor house called the Manor of the Rose in the parish of St. Lawrence Pountney in the City of London. The school remained on this site until 1875 when it moved to Charterhouse Square.
Slight toning. Slightly ragged edge where attached. From a collection of early 17th century pieces acquired from the UK.
